Attend a Pre-PA Conference in New Jersey on August 3

This is REALLY short notice, but recently I was contacted by a brand new PA program in NJ who is hosting a Pre-PA conference, and YOU get a discount!

The PA program is at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ and has their inaugural cohort starting in Fall of 2019. They reached out to me to spread the news and they were kind enough to give a 25% off Discount to Empowered PAs readers! So, take a look and if you go, tell them I sent you!

From Lori D. Tarke, M.Ed., DHSc, Director, Clinical Sites:

The College of Saint Elizabeth located in Morristown, New Jersey is the site of NJ’s 4th PA program.  The program earned its accreditation-provisional* status and will welcome its inaugural class in October of 2019.  The College of Saint Elizabeth hopes to find a niche in PA education with its focus on social justice, diversity, and leadership.  The curriculum will weave the typical clinical objectives with leadership topics such as team dynamics, communication, emotional intelligence and more.  The program will also be the only program in NJ to offer point of care ultrasound.

Aligned with its mission, CSE has partnered with the NJ State Society of Physician Assistants to launch the first annual Northeast Pre Physician Assistant Conference.  Faculty recognized that students needed to be introduced to the PA profession and guided through the requirements to be accepted into a PA program.  Faculty also recognized that simple mistakes cost qualified candidates a seat in a PA Program. The conference addresses these needs by inviting top PA coaches, PA faculty, and PA leaders to educate, inspire, and connect with students.

Savanna Perry, PA-C, from the PA Platform will be the keynote speaker and will also facilitate a workshop on interviewing skills.  Phil Festa, PA-C from Excell Education Pre-PA Clerkship will be the lunch speaker and will lead workshops on advanced interviewing techniques.  Brian Palm, PA-C from My PA Resource will hold workshops on personal statement development.  Bethann Mercanti, PA-C from Cooper University Healthcare will hold an open Q & A session on shadowing. Faculty from CSE will hold workshops on navigating the application and professionalism.  A variety of open panel discussions will allow participants to engage with PA faculty, PAs in various specialties, and PA students that were recently accepted into programs. Tracey Piparo, PA-C and President of the NJ State Society will bring the conference to a close as the endnote speakers.  Participants will also tour the newly built CSE PA Program to watch a faculty-led simulation and virtual cadaver demonstration.  A number of PA educators will also be onsite such as CSE, Seton Hall University,  and Monmouth University.

Workshops include:

  • professionalism
  • interviewing
  • personal statements
  • navigating the application
  • shadowing Q&A

*Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.

Tickets to the event can be found

I’m excited to hear how the conference goes! I love seeing their focus on leadership so early in the game! I hope some can take advantage of the discount! Best of luck to the inaugural class and best of luck to the organizers for a successful and exciting conference!
